Competition Information:
Preliminary Round: FHSU Campus, Malloy Hall
Saturday, October 24, 2009
Final Round: FHSU Campus, Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center
Saturday, February 6, 2010, 7:30 p.m.
Three Finalists will be selected for the final round, which will
be a public performance with the Hays Symphony Orchestra at its
February 6 concert. Prizes will be announced immediately following
the concert.
First Prize: The Hays Symphony Young Artists’ Prize

Stipulations:
- All Instrumentalists and vocalists age 29 and under at the time of the final round’s performance will be eligible. Previous finalists are not allowed to compete.
- Pieces selected must not exceed 30 minutes. Single
Concerto movements are acceptable. Repertoire
should be selected from the list provided, (Repertoire
list: .doc version, .rtf
version, .pdf version)
though exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please
contact Mr. Means with questions in this regard.
- Memorization is required for both rounds. Preliminary round applicants should bring three copies of the score (full orchestra score preferred, where possible), with any cuts marked, to their preliminary round audition.
- Tapes/recordings will not be accepted.
- Accompanists are required for the preliminary round but will not be provided.
- Application forms are due to FHSU no later than
Saturday, October 3, 2009.
- All applicants must include a $10 registration fee (checks payable to FHSU Department of Music) with their application.
