Strings at FHSU
Experienced teachers and performers, Matt
Means, Assistant Professor of Violin and Viola, and Benjamin
Morris-Cline, Instructor of Cello and Bass, head string
studies at Fort Hays State University. Intensive lessons, chamber
music, two orchestras, and master classes with nationally and
internationally recognized artists are all part of a comprehensive
and thorough training program for string players. Generous
performance and teaching experiences are also key components
in readying students for further schooling and careers.
We offer a BM in Music Performance, Music
Education, and a BA in Music, as well as a 20 credit hour minor
in music. Whether you are planning for a career in teaching or
performing, FHSU provides a foundation for excellence. Our alumni
include some of the most respected string teachers in Kansas and
beyond. We also offer an exciting pedagogy program for aspiring
string teachers through the
Western Kansas String Academy.
