Voice

Dr. Joe Perniciaro works with voice student.
With internationally and nationally recognized faculty performers and
scholars, the voice studies area at Fort Hays State University is committed to providing
the highest quality vocal instruction and choral experiences. Dr. Paula Boire and
Dr. Joseph Perniciaro, voice faculty, and Dr. Terry Crull, Director of Choral Activities,
collaborate on a wide range of educational and performing opportunities.
All students have access to a wide range of courses, including four choirs, private
voice lessons, song literature, diction, pedagogy, opera techniques and opera performance.
Students also study choral literature, arranging and conducting. All students have the
opportunity to audition for annual opera and musical theater productions.

The Department of Music offers a Bachelor of Music in Performance and Music Education,
a Bachelor of Arts in Music, along with a 20 credit hour minor in music. Whether you are
planning for a career in teaching, performing, or just activities in voice, FHSU provides
a foundation for excellence. Our voice studies alumni include university professors,
freelance performers, and some of the most respected choral directors in Kansas and beyond.
