The winner of NBC's hit television show "Phenomenon" and a contestant on this season's "America's Got Talent," magician Mike Super will perform at the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center in Sheridan Hall on the Fort Hays State University campus at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Michaela Valli Groeblacher, Lindsborg, a recent Fort Hays State University graduate, has been selected to compete for the Zanesville, Ohio, Ceramics Arts award.

Groeblacher's piece "Kim" is in the running for the $20,000 first-place award or a piece of $10,000 in additional prize money.

Dillons is partnering with Fort Hays State University to donate food items that are near expiration to the Tiger Food Exchange, a place where students, faculty and staff can access information regarding food and health along with the access to a food pantry. It is located on the first floor of the Forsyth Library and is open during library hours.

Ned Day, a Fort Hays State University alumnus, was accepted into the 2015 biennial ceramics exhibition of the "Lively Experiments" of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts in Providence, R.I.

"I am very excited and honored to have the opportunity to show my work at this level of the ceramic arts and education field," said Day. He is an art teacher at the Great Plains Art Institute on the Sinte Gleska University campus on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation, Mission, S.D.

Fort Hays State University's Department of Health and Human Performance is now offering a massage therapy program. The 500-hour certificate program is delivered in a hybrid format.

The academic classes will be offered online, and hands-on and the clinic classes will be held on campus. After two short semesters, the student will be eligible to practice the art of professional massage therapy and sit for a national exam.

Authentic historical documents written by one of America's greatest founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, will bring 300 Ellis County fifth-graders to Fort Hays State University on Monday, Sept. 15.

A charitable donation to FHSU from an alumnus, Dr. Cecil Currey -- two handwritten letters from Benjamin Franklin and two original pages of the Pennsylvania Gazette -- has been the center of an annual educational event for the past eight years.

The most recent rankings placed the online M.S. in educational administration as No. 16 in an article titled "The 25 Best Online Master's in Educational Administration Degree Programs."

Fort Hays State University's Career Services will host its 27th annual Career-Internship Day from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Gross Memorial Coliseum.The fair gives students the opportunity to network with employers, discuss careers, internships, professional employment and the opportunity to begin job a search. All students, alumni, faculty and staff are welcome to attend.

Arin Powers, Woodward, Okla., junior, released a statement today announcing that she will transition from acting president to president of the Student Government Association at Fort Hays State University:

"In spring 2014, the student body of Fort Hays State University re-elected Chris Roberts as president of the Student Government Association for this school year. As his running mate, I was elected vice president."
"Because of personal issues, Chris chose not to be sworn in as president and, by default, I became the acting president."
