HAYS, Kan. -- Two workshops focusing on leadership skills,
communication and coaching are offered by the Management Development Center at
Fort Hays State University to help develop and improve professional
organizations and their members.
The workshops are based on sound management theory and delivered
in a practical, applied method. Participants must register online.
"For Women Only: Leadership and Management Skills" is from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday,
Oct. 23, in FHSU's Memorial Union. Cost of the workshop is $99.
During this session, participants will examine leadership
and management skills and help develop competencies needed to meet the
challenges women face in the workplace, establish distinction between leading
and managing, identify skills needed to be effective as both a leader and manager,
and develop individual and group actions needed to achieve performance goals.
This workshop is for women currently leading, managing or
supervising women who aspire to increase their leadership and management skills
to be more effective in their current positions.
"Communication and Coaching Skills in the Workplace"
is from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Memorial Union. The cost is
$99.
The knowledge gained from this workshop will help
participants understand what drives their behavior and the behavior of others
when engaged in communication and coaching.
It will include two assessments, "What's My
Communication Style" and "What's My Coaching Style," followed by
activities allowing participants to apply and experiment with communication and
coaching simulations.
Men or women interested in developing their leader, manager
and follower skills to be more effective in their current positions are
welcome.
Participants will understand how communication impacts
relationships, learn about the different types of communication, understand the
four communication styles, discover a quick way to identify styles of others
and learn how to use style to improve communication.
