HAYS, Kan. -- The seven alumni of Fort Hays State University
to be honored with awards at the Alumni and Friends Awards and Recognition
Banquet will also share their experience and expertise on the FHSU campus
starting Wednesday, Oct. 3.
The presentations:
Wednesday, Oct. 3:
1:30 p.m.: Presidential Award winner Dr. Eric Arubayi,
Advanced Education Program Department meeting. Arubayi is the president and
professor of education administration and planning at Delta State University in
Abraka, Nigeria. Hosted by the College of Education and Technology.
Thursday, Oct. 4:
8:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.: Alumni Achievement Award winner
Dr. John Dorsch, class presentations, Albertson Hall, room 348. Dorsch is an
associate professor of family and community medicine at KU School of Medicine.
Hosted by the Department of Biological Sciences.
9 a.m. & 1:15 p.m.: Distinguished Service Award winner
Nancy Costigan Talbott, class presentations, Rarick Hall, room 201 and 231. Hosted
by the Department of Teacher Education.
9 a.m.: Presidential Award winner Dr. Eric Arubayi,
"The Rise of the African Economy," Stouffer Lounge. Hosted by the
College of Education and Technology.
10:30 a.m.: Presidential Award winner Dr. Eric Arubayi,
class presentation, Rarick Hall, room 201. Hosted by the College of Education
and Technology.
1:30 p.m.: Alumni Achievement Award winner Kent Needham,
class presentation, McCartney Hall, room 202. Needham is chairman, president
and CEO of First Security Bank in Overbrook.

1:30 p.m.: Nita M. Landrum Award winner Harry Watts, guest
lecture in agricultural law class, Albertson Hall, room 235. Watts is the
managing director of governmental relations at Kansas Farm Bureau in Manhattan.

3 p.m.: Nita M. Landrum Award winner Harry Watts, reception,
Albertson Hall, room 303.

3:30 p.m.: Presidential Award winner Dr. Eric Arubayi,

8:30 a.m.: Alumni Achievement Award winner Kent Needham,
Economics, Finance, and Accounting Department Advisory Council meeting. Hosted
by the College of Business and Entrepreneurship.
9 a.m.: Alumni Achievement Award winner Dr. Marcia
Bannister, "Textbooks Come to Life: A Personal Journey," Stouffer
Lounge, in Memorial Union. Bannister served as a faculty member from 1969-2004
and as chair of the Department of Communication Disorders from 1994-2004.
Hosted by the Department of Communication Disorders.
9 a.m.: Young Alumni Award winner Dr. Eric Heinze, Coffee
Hour Social, Rarick Hall, room 319. Heinze is an associate professor of
political science and international studies at the University of Oklahoma.
