HAYS, Kan. -- In honor and memory of former Fort Hays State
University student Shane Gottschalk, the Tiger Wellness Center will host Shane
Strong Fit Day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the FHSU Wellness
Center.
Gottschalk, who recently passed away after a battle with
cancer, was an employee of the Tiger Wellness Center.
"Shane took great pride in his body, and fitness was a
big part of his life," said Emily Washburn, assistant director of Tiger
Wellness Center. "He spent much of his time at the wellness center
challenging himself."
The event features workouts at designated times, or
participants can come to workout on their own. The ceremony begins at 9 a.m. in
the wellness center. Walking and running begins at 9:15 a.m. Zumba and bootcamp
will take place at 10 a.m., and, at 11 a.m., participants can do the Hero Workout
and Crossfit.
Participants are required to sign a liability waiver to
participate in the workouts.
Free will donations will be accepted. Donations can be
mailed to FHSU Wellness Attn: Emily Washburn, 600 Park St., Hays, KS 67601.
"He was a man who showed a great passion for
life," said Washburn. "His strength and character will never be
forgotten. He was a champion and a fighter who inspired so many."
