Loans
Work-study
Grants
are awards based on financial aid and do not need to
be repayed.

Pell Grant -
Awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned
a bachelor's or professional degree. The Pell Grant is generally the
benchmark for qualifying for other types of grant aid.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant
- An additional grant awarded to the neediest
students that submitted their FAFSA before the March 15th priority deadline.
·
Kansas Comprehensive Grant
- Formerly known as the Regent's Supplemental
Grant, this is a state grant awarded to the neediest students
Loans
are aid that must be repaid, with interest.
·
Perkins Loan -
A loan in which FHSU serves as the lender. This loan
has a fixed interest rate.
·
Federal Stafford Loans
- There are two types of Federal Stafford
Loans: Unsubsidized and Subsidized. The Unsubsidized Loan is one in
which the interest begins accumulating upon disbursement. For the Subsidized
Loan, the Federal government pays the interest while the student remains
in school. Interest rates for these loans fluctuate and are set every
July 1.

Plus Loan- The
Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students is a loan taken by the parent
in order to assist in their child's education. The FAFSA does not serve as an application for
this loan. For an application, contact the Financial
Assistance Office.

Alternative Loan
- Given
to students who do not have any financial aid eligibility remaining,
if they qualify. The FAFSA
does not serve as an application for this loan.

Student
Computer Loan Program-
Eligible
borrowers must be first-time, full-time and degree-seeking freshmen.
You must be admitted to FHSU to be considered for a computer loan. Remember
that a co-signer is required on the promissory note. FHSU reserves the
right to deny loans.

FHSU Student Computer Loan Procedure:
• Interested students must first be admitted to Fort
Hays State University.
• Since loan funds are limited, the FHSU Student Computer Loan Committee
will review applications.
• After review of the application, the student will be notified in writing
of the committee's decision.
• If a computer loan is awarded to a prospective student, a promissory
note will be mailed to that student.
• In order to receive the student loan, the instructions on the promissory
note must be completed in the specified time frame.
Work
Study
is a need-based aid program in which students get paid
for working on-campus.
