Nu
Zeta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International
Sigma
Theta Tau was founded in 1922 by six nursing students at Indiana University.
The founders chose the society’s name from the meaning of the
Greek words Storge, Tharsos, and Time: “love”, “courage”
and “honor”. As women ahead of their time, the founders’
vision for the society helped bring recognition to nursing as a science.
The society became incorporated in 1985 as Sigma Theta Tau International,
Inc., to support and connect the global community of nursing scholars
who enhance health care worldwide.Members are active in more than 90
countries and territories. Membership is by invitation to baccalaureate
and graduate nursing students, who demonstrate excellence in scholarship,
and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.
Baccalaureate students are invited in either the last part of their
junior year or during the senior year after they have completed at least
half of their nursing courses, as well as have a 3.0 grade point average
and be in the upper 35% of their class. There are many services available
to members including several publications, the Virginia Henderson International
Nursing Library which is online, and other on-line information sources.

of Sigma Theta Tau International which is the Nu Zeta Chapter. This
chapter has been in existence since 1992 and recently celebrated it’s
10th Anniversary. The induction of new members takes place in April
at a special banquet. Other activities of the Nu Zeta Chapter include
two scholarly meetings a year and a Memory Walk which is a community
service project done in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Organization.
This organization strives to provide leadership and scholarship in practice,
education and research to enhance nursing care worldwide.

Nurses
Christian Fellowship
NCF
is a ministry of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA open to all
nursing and pre-nursing students for establishment and advancement
in nursing, within education and practice, witnessing communities
of nursing students and nurses who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord:
growing in love for God, God’s Word, God’s people of
every ethnicity and culture and God’s purposes in the world.
Begun in 1948, NCF is both a professional organization and a ministry
of and for nurses and nursing students. We are concerned for the
nurse as a whole person and are advocates of quality nursing care.
Our vision is to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to nursing
education and practice.
Nurses and nursing students constantly face stressful situations
such as suffering, crisis, birth, death, and ethical dilemmas. They
must make crucial decisions in high-pressure situations. Daily challenges
force them to ask ultimate questions about the meaning of life.
They urgently need spiritual values and resources to give them support,
direction and hope.
Fort Hays Nurses Christian Fellowship invites you to attend weekly
gatherings in Stroup Hall. We welcome you to talk, laugh, listen,
share, support, and pray with us. No dues, no roll call, and no
obligations other than supporting one another as Christian Nurses.
Come when you can! |

and the affection of children; to earn the approbation on honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty; to find
the best in others; to give one’s self; to leave the world a bit
better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social
condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with
exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have
lived--this is to have succeeded.”
