The mission of the Department of Nursing is to provide high quality, liberal arts based undergraduate education and graduate education based on the standards of professional nursing. A major committment of the Department focuses on using unique methods of instruction to deliver quality nursing education opportunities throughout western Kansas. Computer and telecommunications technology are seen as integral components of the delivery methods needed to serve the instructional needs of diverse education and work environments in rural western Kansas. In addition, technology serves as a link between a rural culture of western Kansas and the culturally, racially, and ethnically diverse global community.
By providing quality nursing education opportunities
in western Kansas, the Department of Nursing facilitates the provision
of quality health care services and availability of resources in
the region. In addition, the Department is committed to providing
public service primarily for the local community and the western
region of the state, by sharing the professional nursing expertise
of faculty and students. Scholarly endeavors of faculty and students
are also encouraged, in order to address societal needs and promote
the nursing discipline.
