Ofloxacin Otic (Floxin)
Floxin otic is the only prescription eardrop approved by the FDA in the last 20 years. Currently, Floxin otic is the only fluroquinolone approved for treatment of AOM in pediatric patients. Floxin otic has several indications in children including:
Floxin otic should be able to deliver high local drug concentrations
to the middle ear without the potential untoward /side effects
or systemic fluroquinolones. Pathogen eradication rates
of 93% have been reported for floxin otic in controlled AOM studies.
