The FHSU Tiger Card

Please be prepared to submit a valid photo ID when obtaining your card. All students are required to have a Student ID Card. The Tiger Card may be obtained at the Card Center, Memorial Union. All excess financial aid is applied to your individual Tiger Card debit account (Commerce Bank). The Tiger Card is valid for the time that you are enrolled as a student at the Fort Hays State University.
  • The Tiger Card is property of Fort Hays State University. It must be carried at all times and presented to University officials upon request. The Tiger Card is non-transferable. Your Tiger Card does NOT EXPIRE as long as you are enrolled at FHSU. You do NOT need to replace your card each semester or year.

  • Your first Tiger Card is issued to you for a $5 fee. There is a $10 replacement fee for any card that is lost, stolen, thrown away or mutilated. If you need to cancel your card or if you lose your card, contact the Card Center and/or Commerce Bank.

  • Once a Tiger Card has been cancelled it can NOT be reactivated if found. However, any money put on the vending stripe of the cancelled card can be transferred to your new card by bringing BOTH cards to the Card Center.

  • DO NOT lend your card to someone else. This will prevent fraud and unauthorized use of the features and services of the Tiger Card.

  • DO NOT punch holes, cut, scratch or otherwise deface your Tiger Card. Such damage may render your card invalid and may also cause damage to the vending stripe or merchant stripe. Storing the Tiger Card back to back with a credit card may cause the stripe to become demagnetized.

  • Money placed on the vending account (small magnetic stripe) does NOT expire and has a maximum limit of $50. Cash-to-card machines are located in the Memorial Union, Forsyth Library and McMindes Hall. We do NOT recommend carrying any more money on this account than you would normally spend in 10 days time. Money stored on this stripe is NOT secured by a PIN number. Therefore, it can be used by anyone else should you lose your card. Copiers with card acceptors are located in the Forsyth Library and Rarick Graphics lab (room 121).

  • Money placed on the vending account is NOT refundable unless you meet the following criteria:
    1. You must be leaving FHSU (i.e. graduating, transfer, etc.)
    2. There must be $10 or more on the vending account to qualify for a refund.
    3. Refunds are issued in the form of a check, less $1.00 processing fee.

  • Your current balance will always be displayed at the beginning of each transaction after your card has been inserted into a reader. As a general rule, always check your vending account balance BEFORE you make a purchase. That way you will always know exactly how much money was on your vending account just in case a malfunction occurs.

  • In cases where there may be an equipment malfunction, please notify the main office of the building housing the equipment within 24 hours so that the specific equipment can be checked. In cases where an ATM malfunction occurs, please notify the Commerce Bank branch nearest to that ATM machine.
