University Support Staff
Kansas Statutes Annotated (K.S.A.) 76-715a allows state universities, with the approval of the Board of Regents, to convert classified staff positions from the state civil service system to unclassified positions known as University Support Staff (USS).
A committee of classified employees was formed in February, 2013, to visit the option of converting to USS. Classified employees voted on the Proposal on November 19, 2013, and the results were in favor of converting to USS employees effective July 1, 2014.
Both the Proposal and USS Handbook were reviewed and approved by University administration. FHSU administration submitted the Proposal and USS Handbook to the Kansas Board of Regents and both were approved on January 15, 2014.
The Disciplinary Action Appeals Policy has been approved by the President's Cabinet. The USS Disciplinary Action Hearing Board is being created.

Members of the USS Committee are Jerome Dreiling, Christine Gist, Mark Grieve, Bruce Heath, Marnie Kohl, Linda Leiker, Rod Leiker, Lisa Morgan, Sherry Spangler, David Storer, Marcia Tacha, and Cindy Weigel.
