University Degree Requirements
Why study physics at FHSU?
We are intensely focused on your success as a student, both inside and outside
the classroom. You will have all the benefits of a major university program
– strong academics, cutting-edge facilities, 100% career and graduate school
placement, but you get so much more. You have the opportunity to:
- Take classes from faculty who love to teach and who care about your academic and personal success
- Get involved in research projects with Ph.D.-level faculty early
in your college career in areas like…
- Be part of a friendly, supportive department
- Build a peer network with other physics majors who have started careers or gone on to grad school.
- Get involved with research – and not just by observing faculty members. You can conduct cutting-edge research yourself,
in areas like robotics, laser-bio effects, atomic physics, material science, and others.
You have options
You may choose to earn a four-year Bachelor of Science in Physics, which prepares you to start a career in a laboratory, enter graduate school, or teach
at the high school level.
Interested in Engineering?
The Physics Department gives you a strong start with our pre-engineering programs. The 2+2 program and 3+2 Dual Degree Program are
designed to help you build a solid engineering foundation by studying at FHSU for two years and then transferring to an engineering
school to complete your engineering degree. These programs offer you small classes, hands-on research and on-one-on time with Ph.D.-level faculty.
Our 2+2 and 3+2 pre-engineering students routinely thank us for the exceptional level of preparedness and confidence that have upon transferring to engineering school.
