Student Testimonials
"The FHSU
Pre-law program extends the learning process beyond the classroom
in numerous ways. These include scheduling practicing lawyers to
speak to the students, visiting local law schools and sitting in
on law school classes, and visiting governmental sites such as the
Judicial Center and Capitol in Topeka, Kansas. All of these out-of-the-classroom
activities have allowed the students to become more knowledgeable
in their intended professional field."

| Pre-law Students Visiting a Law Firm |
"The
advantage the FHSU Legal Research and Writing class has given me
in law school has been invaluable; I was asked by my first-year
Legal Research and Writing Professor at KU to be a Teaching Assistant
for the class."
Molly Bircher - 2000 Grad
"The classes
I took in the FHSU Pre-law program were tailored excellently to
both obtaining a solid foundation in legal principles and to addressing
extralegal and societal concerns about the purposes and underlying
policy concerns of many legal issues."
Bryan Bennett - 1999 Grad
"Legal Research
Methods gave me a jump start on my legal education and helped me
ot be a little less stressed than the average law student during
my first semester due to not having to learn so much all at once.
In addition, Law and Society and Public Law gave students the opportunity
to begin to think like a lawyer and more importantly, to get an
idea of what the teaching methods in a law school classroom are
like."

| Pre-law Students Listening to a Lecture at
Washburn Law School |
"I am currently
a first-year law student at Washburn University School of Law. It
is in this academic year, in which we have been forced to read,
analyze, and discuss large and often complex topics, that I have
been able to appreciate what value the FHSU Pre-law program has
added to my education. As I sit amongst 173 other first-year law
students I feel that by taking numerous courses, I have had an advantage
over my law school classmates."

"The Pre-law
Society provides many wonderful opportunities. I have particulary
enjoyed visiting Kansas law schools, touring the Judicial Center
in Topeka, and meeting Kansas Court of Appeals judges and Kansas
Supreme Court Justices, plus having the opportunity to listen to
two Supreme Court Justices speak at The University of Kansas School
of Law."

"As I began
lookin for the institution where I would pursue my post-secondary
education, I decided to look at Fort Hays State University. During
my visit I was immediately impressed, and by the time I arrived
home I knew Fort Hays State was the place for me. The Pre-law curriculum
is unparalleled by any institution of which I am aware, including
some that boast about their pre-law programs."
