Allied Health Faculty Member

Position Announcement

DUTIES: Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses, coordinating clinical experiences, student recruitment and advising, pursuing scholarly activities, and professional service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be A.R.R.T. registered in radiologic technology.
  2. Must have at least two years of full-time clinical experience.
  3. Minimum of a master degree; doctorate degree preferred.
  4. Must have expertise in any of the following areas: mammography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, cardiovascular-interventional technology, diagnostic medical sonography, nuclear medicine, bone densitometry, or radiation therapy.

RANK AND SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

APPOINTMENT: Full-time, 12-month, Tenure Track Faculty Position

STARTING DATE: August 12, 2007

DESCRIPTION OF THE ALLIED HEALTH DEPARTMENT: FHSU offers an Associate of Science Degree in Radiologic Technology and has the capacity for 67 students per first year clinical term. The program has fifteen faculty members: six campus faculty, and nine clinical instructors at the clinical education sites located throughout Kansas, Colorado and Nebraska.

FHSU also offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Diagnostic Imaging (MDI) and admits approximately 45 students per year. The program provides radiologic technologists with cross-training in specialty areas beyond the scope of diagnostic radiography. Students select from a series of courses designed to give students knowledge of the principles and practices of mammography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, cardiovascular-interventional technology, bone densitometry, or diagnostic medical sonography.

The MDI Program also includes an educational track with emphasis in ultrasound. Approximately 10 students are selected annually to complete a 21-month course of study consisting of didactic and clinical experience. Upon completion of the coursework, students are eligible for the ARDMS certification in abdomen, obstetric/gynecology, and vascular specialties.
