Consulting and Other Employment

See also Chapter 4: Faculty: Employment, Tenure, Promotion, and Merit—Commitment of Time, Conflict of Interest, Consulting and Other Employment Policies of the Board of Regents

Fort Hays State University (FHSU) faculty may engage in income-producing activities outside the University so long as:

1. They do not conflict with the Board of Regents policy (see Kansas Board of Regents: Policies and Procedures Manual).

2. Advance approval is received for the activity (see below).

3. The obligations of teaching, advising, service, research, creative activity, or other assignments are fulfilled to the satisfaction of the department chairperson, dean, and other reviewing bodies or individuals.

The department chairperson has the initial responsibility for monitoring such outside activities and enforcing this statement.

Approved by President Gerald W. Tomanek (08-25-81).

Approval for consultations is obtained through use of the "Faculty Consulting and Outside Work Request" form which is available in the Office of the Provost.
