Fringe Benefits
Athletic Activity Tickets
Athletic activity tickets are available for single
or seasonal athletic events. Cost is variable based upon ticket
option chosen. Contact the Athletic Department for current price
information.
Group Health Insurance Coverage
Coverage provided by Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Coventry, or Preferred Health Systems insurance companies. Coverage is effective the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment. Health plan includes prescription drug plan. Dental and Vision plans are also available. Additional information regarding health plans may be found at http://www.khpa.ks.gov/SEHBP/benlink.htm.
Life/Disability Insurance
Basic Life Insurance
Available only to employees eligible to participate
in the basic retirement program. Coverage is equal to 150 percent
of member's annual rate of compensation at no cost to employee.
There is no waiting period.
Optional Group Life Insurance
Available only to employees eligible to participate
in the basic retirement program--premium is paid by payroll deduction--coverage
in excess of $15,000 is contingent upon medical history. Coverage
is "level term" and ranges from $5,000 to $200,000.
Disability Insurance
Disability insurance is: 1) Available only to employees
eligible to participate in the basic retirement program; 2) has
a 180-day waiting period for disability determination; 3) benefits
subject to reduction from primary social security; 4) minimum payment
of $100 monthly; 5) provides a monthly benefit based on 66.67 percent
of the member's annual rate of compensation; and 6) first-day eligibility
with no cost to employees.
Social Security
All University faculty and staff participate in the
federal social security program (unless exempt with F-1 or J-1 Visa).
The staff member's contributions are deducted from his/her paycheck
and matched by the University.
Worker's Compensation
This program provides medical coverage and lost
wage benefits for all staff members who may be accidentally injured
while performing their assigned duties.
