Admission to the University
The admission process is required
of all new students who have never attended Fort Hays State
University or who have not recently attended the university.
A Personal Health History form should
be filled out before or during the first enrollment. The forms
may be obtained from the Student
Health Center, Memorial Union, lower level.
UNDERGRADUATE: Students desiring to
enroll at Fort Hays State University for the first time should
file an application for admission with the Office of the Registrar
at least 15 days prior to the opening of the semester. A $30 ($35
international students) non-refundable fee is required for all
new undergraduate applicants.

Effective Fall Semester 2001, Qualified
Admission Standards will be in effect. For specific requirements,

A Kansas high school applicant
upon high school graduation should request the high school to
mail a copy of the final high school transcript showing the
date of high school graduation to the Office of the Registrar,
Fort Hays State University, 600 Park Street, Hays, Kansas 67601-4099.
(Section 72-104. Kansas Revised Statutes 1923, provides for
admission of a Kansas high school graduate to the freshman class.)
Other offices on the Fort Hays State University campus may also
request a high school transcript for purposes other than admission.
An out-of-state freshman applicant
currently enrolled in high school or who has graduated from
high school is required to request the high school to mail an
official high school transcript of work completed when applying
for admission. For a currently enrolled high school senior,
the applicant, upon graduation, should also request the high
school to mail a copy of the final high school transcript showing
high school graduation to the Office of the Registrar, Fort
Hays State University, 600 Park Street, Hays, Kansas 67601-4099.
Other offices on the Fort Hays State University campus may also
request your high school transcript for purposes other than
admission.
Transfer students are required
to request each college/university attended to send official
transcripts to the Office of the Registrar at the time of application.
In addition, students currently enrolled should request a final
transcript at the conclusion of the semester.
International students must
place on file with the Office of the Registrar official foreign
and U.S. academic transcripts, financial statements, TOEFL scores,
and, if required, a satisfactory report from an Intensive English
Center, in addition to an application for admission. Apply online

All applicants currently enrolled
in high school or applicants who have not reached age 21
are required to submit ACT (American College Test) college reports.
Out-of-state applicants may submit SAT (Scholastic Aptitude
Test) college reports. Students 21 or older are encouraged to
submit ACT/SAT College Reports.
Applicants who have not taken
the ACT (or SAT option if an out-of-state applicant) should
contact the high school principal or counselor for an ACT application
or write the American College Testing Program, Box 414, Iowa
City, Iowa 52240. One ACT test date is established on the Fort
Hays State University campus during enrollment for a regular
semester or summer term for all freshmen who were unable to
take the test previously. Contact the Coordinator of Testing
Services, Picken Hall 308, (785) 628-4401, prior to enrollment
to determine the particular ACT date, time, and cost.
Applicants who have taken the ACT
or SAT but did not request the college reports to be mailed
to Fort Hays State University should request college reports
to be mailed to Fort Hays State University when applying for
admission. (The address of the Iowa Office for requesting ACT
college reports is American College Testing Program, Box 414,
Iowa City, Iowa 52240.)
RE-ENTRY TO THE UNIVERSITY
Undergraduate students who were previously
enrolled at Fort Hays State Univeristy but were not enrolled
the most recent previous semester, file an
application for re-entry with the Office of the Registrar
at least 15 days prior to the opening of the semester.
Applications for admission and applicants
for re-entry may be obtained for the Office of the Registrar,
Sheridan Hall 106 or the Office of Admissions, Custer Hall 200.
A re-entry application must be complete
by former Fort Hays State University undergradute students who
did not attend the previous semester. The application must be
submitted 15 days prior to the opening of the semester/term.
Undergraduate students, who attended
another institution since attending Fort Hays State University,
are required to request each college/institution attended to
send official transcripts to the Office of the Registrar at
the time of application. In addition, students currently enrolled
should request a final transcript at the conclusion of the semester.

GRADUATE INFORMATION
Students desiring to earn graduate
credit or students desiring to obtain a graduate degree at Fort
Hays State University must be admitted to the Graduate
School before graduate credit may be awarded. First time
graduate credit enrollees should submit to the Graduate Office
a completed application for admission to the Graduate School
at least 20 days prior to the opening of the semester.
Graduate applications for admission
may be obtained from the Graduate School, Picken Hall 202. An
initial $35 non-refundable application fee is required for all
graduate, degree-seeking applicants. Any time a graduate status
is changed to degree-seeking a new application fee will be assessed.
Graduate students who have been previously admitted to the Graduate
School but have not been in attendance at Fort Hays State University
in any semester or term for a three year period should notify
the Graduate Office of intent to enroll.
