Hello Residents of McMindes!
My name is Isaac Ortega. I am your Assistant Hall Director here at McMindes. I will be supervising the Front Desk. The front desk is the main hub for information, mail and activities. There are many different games and resources that you can check out. So stop on by, say hi, and see what we can do for you!
I am from Waukesha, Wisconsin where I went to high school at Waukesha West High School. While there I was involved in Cross Country, Swimming, Tennis and Marching Band. After high school I went to the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Math Education. During my time at Stevens Point I was an RA for 2.5 years, and I played for my schools Ultimate Frisbee team.
This past year I worked as a seasonal staff member at Camp Perkins, a camp that is located in the heart of Idaho. I hosted a wide array of groups ranging from crafting retreats, to youth retreats, to silent meditation retreats. I also got to drive a snow CAT and a snow van in order to bring guests in and out of the camp when there was too much snow for them to drive in.
Now, I am here at Fort Hays State University, working as an Assistant Hall Director and studying for my masters in Higher Education Student Affairs. I am very excited to learn more about Fort Hays State University, I’ve only been here for a few weeks and I’m already in love with it! I am also very excited to meet all of you! So stop on by the front desk, hang out, and learn more about what the Front Desk can offer you!
See you all very soon!
