Future Residents of McMindes Hall 2nd Floor West,
My name is Taite Herrington and I am excited that I will get to be your Resident Assistant (RA) this year! I am a sophomore here at Fort Hays State University and am studying to get my Bachelor’s Degree in Justice Studies with an emphasis in law enforcement. I am from Salina, KS and I have three siblings and six step-siblings. I also am always watching sports, playing Madden, and I am a HUGE fan of the Green Bay Packers!
My job as your RA is to not only to make sure your transition into college life is successful, but it is also to make sure you have a great year all around. I know leaving home and coming to a strange place is kind of a scary thing but I promise you will have a great time here at Fort Hays. The students and professors are all great, and there’s always fun stuff going on. Living here in McMindes will also be a little different than what you’re used to, but you will have a great time and it will be an easy shift into dorm life. That is what I am here for. If you ever have any questions, need advice, can’t figure out your homework, or just want to hang out; you can always come by my room and see me. My job is not just to make sure things don’t get of hand or to keep you safe, it is to make sure we have a fun and exciting year!
Living in McMindes with a bunch of new people will be a fun adventure and I know you will have a great year. If you want to get more involved in residence hall life, I recommend joining McMindes Hall Council as well. This way you can not only meet new people but also have a chance to make suggestions and find out about all the cool things we are planning throughout the year. Again, I am excited to get the year started and cannot wait to meet you. We have some great events planned for your first couple days that will allow you to meet new people and provide an easier transition into college life. If you have any questions before the year starts, you can email me anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org. See you on move-in day and have a great rest of the summer!
