Hello! My name is Traynor Whitehead. I am one of the two Resident Assistants on the third floor of Wiest Hall for the 2013-2014 academic year. It is my pleasure to welcome you to Wiest Hall. I hope your summer is going well and that you are looking forward to this academic year as much as I am.
I am a senior here at Fort Hays State University and I am pursuing a degree in History and Secondary Education. I come from a small town in eastern Colorado that has about as many residents as our building on campus does. And I can tell you from my two years of experience at FHSU that it is never boring, and no two days are ever the same.
I would encourage you to get to know your roommate as well as you can before you arrive. There is nothing quite as awkward as sharing a single room with someone and trying to get to know them during the stress of moving in. Talk to them about what living accessories they plan to bring and which ones you plan to bring and that will keep you from having two of the same thing or not having something. Plus, it’s a great idea to try to make connections and friendships before you arrive.
Once again welcome to third floor of Wiest Hall. I look forward to meeting you on move-in day.
