Dining Services

McMindes Cafeteria Hours

Monday through Friday
Hot Breakfast: 7 - 9:30 a.m.
Cont. Breakfast: 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.
Lunch: 11:00 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.
Light Lunch: 1:15 - 5 p.m.
Dinner: 5 - 7 p.m.
Light Dinner: 7 - 9 p.m.
Light Snack: 9 -11 p.m. *
Saturday & Sunday
Continental Breakfast: 10-11 a.m.
Brunch: 11 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.
Light Lunch: 1:15-5 p.m.
Dinner: 5-7 p.m.
After Hours: 7 - 10 p.m.*

Union Station Hours
When your schedule keeps you “on the Quad,” make Union Station your dining choice. All meal plan holders may select the Union Station for breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday when classes are in session. The Grab-n-Go may always be accessed with Flexi-Cash. For current hours of operation, visit the Memorial Union site.

Standing Reservations
Residents dine in McMindes Cafeteria.

We understand that FHSU students make dining a social event with their friends. We also want to make sure that you never have to worry about being able to eat. That is why STANDING RESERVATIONS have been designed to accomodate the various need of our students. When signing up, be sure to select a Reservation based on your academic schedule, eating patterns, and social life.

Meal Plan Options
Open Access Plan:
Open Access provides unlimited meals at McMindes Cafeteria throughout the year (one entry per designated meal times). In addition, OA members enjoy unlimited access between meals for snacks, beverages and more!

15 Meal Plan:
The 15 meal plan allows residents to choose any 15 meals per week

10 Meal Plan:
The 10 meal plan allows residents to choose any 10 meals per week

Guest Meals:
Each meal plan includes provision for three free Guest Meals each semester.

Breakfast: Try the new made-to-order specialties. Have an omelet made just the way you like it. You can also have fresh eggs fried to order upon request.
Lunch/Dinner: Fix that perfect stir-fry combo you love with the made-to-order stir-fry that will be offered once a week. There will also be a weekly "Premium Entree" such as steak or shrimp!
After Hours: Satisfy your late night snacking! The breakfast bar, fresh fruit, beverage and ice cream stations will be open until 11 p.m.

Residents can find weekly menu information, and more in depth information regarding "Standing Reservations," by visiting Chartwells, our food service provider at Fort Hays State University.

Individuals who are ill may request carry-out trays. The university and the dining service contractor will work with residents to meet any special dietary needs. Meal plans may not be cancelled, but meal plan changes are allowed at stated times of the year. Changes made within 30 days of the end of the semester will become effective at the beginning of the following term. Participation in a meal plan is mandatory for freshman and sophomore residents and optional for others.
