Families are welcome so long as one of
the parties meets this requirement. Maximum occupancy for 1
bedroom is 3 immediate family members and 5 immediate family
members for 2 bedroom units.
Community Council is the organization by which residents
can offer input regarding Wooster community activities and
improvements. Meetings are open to all Wooster community members
whether you hold an elected office or are an interested resident.
Your ideas are important and welcome.
Residence Hall Association
(RHA) engages in programming designed to enrich the life
of all residential students. Members of the Wooster community
are also welcome to participate in meetings and activities
sponsored by RHA.

Pets - No pets of any kind are allowed for
reasons of health and safety, with the exception of fish in
aquariums of acceptable size.
Schools - Washington Grade School is located
approximately five blocks from Wooster Place. Obtain additional
information about public schools from: U.S.D. 489, 323 W. 12th,
Hays, KS 67601, (785. 623.2400).
Recreation - Picnic tables and assorted items
of playground equipment are located around the Wooster Place
area. The Hays Recreation Commission provides a complete range
of summer activities for adults and for youngsters in many
age ranges.

Special Needs - Students with special needs
may generally be accommodated in Wooster Place. Contact the
Coordinator for Students with Disabilites for a detailed understanding

Lifestyle
Residents are expected to abide by all Federal, State and local
laws and ordinances, and all policies established by Fort
Hays State University, including those contained in the Student
Code of Conduct and the Wooster Place Handbook.
The apartments are smoke free. Smoking is not allowed either
inside the apartments or outside on porches and stairwells.
Data and Phone
Direct connection to both the Ethernet server and the telephone
system of the University are in place at no extra charge.
Telephone service includes local calling, voice mail and
caller ID. Residents may initiate long distance calls either
by calling “collect” or using a calling card.
Meal Plans
Apartment residents may purchase a meal plan through the
Office of Student Residential Life. All meal plans are useable
in either McMindes Dining Hall or the Union Station.
Cable Television
Basic cable television service, plus Black Entertainment
Television and Univision are furnished to each apartment
at no charge. Residents may contract individually with Eagle
Communications, a local cable company, for premium channel
service.
Mail
A postal kiosk complete with an individual
letter box for each apartment, and with parcel boxes, is centrally
located in the Wooster Place complex, near the laundromat.
Residents pick up their postal box keys directly from the United
States Postal Service office located at Eighth and Fort Streets.
Keys may be returned to the Postal Service when moving from
Wooster Place.
Utilities
All utilites except for the electricity are included in the monthly rate. Electricity is provided by Midwest Energy. Residents must contact Midwest Energy directly at (785) 625-3437 to arrange for service.
Laundry Facilities
A laundromat equipped to operate either with coins or the Tiger Card is located adjacent to Building C. A limited amount of clothesline is located just behind building C. Individual apartments are not quipped with washers or dryers, and their installation is not permitted.
Parking
WOOSTER PLACE RESIDENTS
MAY PARK ONLY IN WOOSTER RESERVED AREAS. Each eligible resident
must purchase a reserved parking tag from the University Police
for each vehicle kept on campus. However, SPECIAL USE VEHICLES,
such as motorcycle trailers, boat trailers, or camping trailers,
MAY NOT BE PARKED IN A REGULAR PARKING SPACE. Individuals with
vehicles of this sort must contact the University Police for
directions to a suitable parking location.
Maintenance
The apartments are completely maintained by the University.
Maintenance work will be performed promptly and professionally.
Repair requests should be placed with the Office of Student

The term “maintenance” includes painting and
repairs of every sort but it does not include housekeeping.
The residents
of each apartment are responsible for their own housekeeping.
Trash Removal and Pest Control
Trash dumpsters and recycling bins are centrally located in the
apartment complex area. Recycling bins are for clean paper and
cardboard only. Pest control for insects and rodents is supplied
to the University on a contract basis. Residents are encouraged
to request service promptly if it is needed by contacting the Office
