BROOKE INLOW WON THE WOMEN'S ALL AROUND AWARD AT NORTHWESTERN
OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY RODEO!!!!!!!
The Fort Hays State University Men's and Women's Team were one
of the twenty three college and university teams competing at Northwestern
Oklahoma State University, Alva, OK (Nov 9-11). The Women's Team was 3rd
with Brook Inlow (Oakley, KS,Jr) winning the Women's All Around title
and the Champion Goat Tying title. In addition, she joined two teammates
(Katie Reimler [Manhattan, KS, Jr] and Kayla Watts [Ottawa, KS, Fr] )
qualifying in the breakaway roping with times of 2.8, 3.5 and 3.5 seconds,
respectively.
The Men's Team were 5th with Logan Glaze (Oberlin, KS, Sr) and
Chase Warne (Mankato, KS, Jr) placing 2nd in the team roping and Travis
Camac (Augusta, KS, Jr) placing 7th in the steer wrestling.
The Central Plains Region fall schedule is completed and at this
point :

Jenna Rolland 3rd in Goat Tying
Haley Hazen is 10th in Breakaway Roping
Kayla Watts 20th (tie) in Breakaway Roping

Chris Sherman and Ben Robinson 1st in Team Roping
Logan Glaze and Chase Warne 5th in Team Roping
Travis Camac 15th in Steer Wrestling (He was 5th in the nation
after the 2006 College National Finals Rodeo)
This is one of the toughest regions in the NIRA. The FHSU team
members re competing against 594 other contestants.
Their goal is to be one of the two top teams in the region and/or
in the top three positions in their respective event(s) to qualify for
the College National Finals Rodeo, next June, at Casper, WY.
Our next N.I.R.A. rodeo is February 23-25, 2007 at Kansas State
University.
TRAVIS CAMAC QUALIFIES FOR THE COLLEGE NATIONAL FINALS
RODEO IN STEER WRESTLING
After two semesters of competition at ten intercollegiate
rodeos, Travis will make his first trip to the College National
Finals Rodeo (CNFR), June 11-17 at the Casper Convention Center
in Casper, Wyo. The CNFR is the "Rose Bowl" of college rodeo.
He will be one of 33 of the best steer NIRA wrestlers
that will compete for the title of National Champion Steer Wrestler
of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA). The
NIRA is composed of 135 colleges and universities and the membership
is 3,500+ intercollegiate competitors.
At the end of the 7th rodeo, Travis was leading the region but
at the 9th rodeo (FHSU Rodeo) he had a very disappointing run and fell
to 2nd by 10 points. As a result, the 10th rodeo would be the deciding
factor because the top seven steer wrestlers were spread by only 145 points
(A maximum of 160 points can be won at a rodeo). Murphy's Law prevailed
at Southeastern Oklahoma State University Rodeo (Durant, Oklahoma). The
1st and 2nd place steer wrestlers did not make it back to the final round.
It required an amazing 3.7 seconds to 6.1 seconds to qualify for the short
round (championship round). It took me nearly that long to type the previous
sentence. The 3.7 seconds was turned in by the steer wrestler ranked in
5th place; therefore, the championship round included the 3rd through
8th place ranked individuals. You guessed it: one of the six "jumped
up and bit the two leaders". In other sports they may refer to that
as a Cinderella story but since the release of a "recent" movie,
cowboys are a bit sensitive about being a Cinderella story. The fifth
place steer wrestler won the long round (first round) with a 3.7 second
time and came back in the short round (championship round of the top ten)
with a 4.8 second run and also won the "average" (low time on
two steers). As a result, the Central Plains Region will be represented
in the steer wrestling at the CNFR by the Regional Champion Trevor Cox
(Garden City Community College), the Reserve Champion Chancey Boeser (Pratt
Community College) and 3rd by Travis Camac (FHSU).
The CNFR consists of the top 3 competitors in each of the nine
events plus the top two teams (Men and Women) from each of eleven geographical
regions. At the CNFR, the Central Plains Region will be represented by
Regional Champion Men's Team (Southwestern Oklahoma State University (Weatherford,
OK) and the Reserve Champion Men's Team (Southeastern Oklahoma State University
(Durant, OK) as well as the regional Champion Women's Team (Southwestern
Oklahoma State University) and the Reserve Champion Women's Team, Southeastern
Oklahoma State Universty.
The Fort Hays State University Men's finished in 10th place and
the Women's Team finished in 9th place in the Central Plains Region.

Alumni Rodeo
2005
The 2005 Alumni Rodeo will be held October 22, 2005, at the Doug
Philip Arena. All events will be included as well as “kids” events
and the “Tug of War.” The rodeo will begin at 10 a.m.
and the day will be capped with a 7 p.m.dinner and auction at the
Vagabond Best Western Restaurant. The buffet dinner will be American
and chinese cuisine at a cost of $7.50 per person.
Articles will be available for a silent auction prior to the meal
and an oral auction will follow the meal. We need your assistance
in planning for the rodeo and the meal. First of all, we will need
pre-entries for the rodeo so that we can have the correct stock
available. Secondly, we will need to have stall reservations (Livestock
Pavilion).
Thirdly, we will need to have a head count so that the caterer
can have plenty of food.
Call 785-628-4366 or 785-770-2852 (Brower) or 628-4015, 628-6372

Rodeo Club Alumni and their immediate families as well as club
members and their immediate families are eligible for the rodeo.
Rodeo club alumni is defined as being members of the rodeo club
and does not require graduation. We hope that a record number of
alumni can return for an enjoyable day of fun while we create a
record scholarship fund.
Be sure to RSVP. If you have items that you wish to donate to the
auction, please contact one of the above numbers. We will take
phone bids on the two (2) unbelievable seats (Broncs) for the 2006
NFR.
