Senior Companion Services
Senior Companions assist their adult clients in basic, but essential ways including:
- Provide encouragement, grief support, and reality orientation/awareness
- Provide respite care for family caregivers
- Assist with reading, writing letters, phone calls and correspondence, and paying bills
- Accompany and assist with grocery shopping, running errands
- Accompany or arrange for client transportation to appointments
- Assist in monitoring medications
- Assist in meal planning and preparation
- Assist with light housekeeping, i.e. washing dishes, making beds, laundry
- Assist with walking, getting to bathroom, exercising
- Accompany client to nutrition site
- Encourage and assist with grooming, hair care, make-up and dressing if needed

Companions are not permitted to perform heavy housekeeping functions or services involving medical knowledge or attendant care.
