FHSU Career Services is here to help you through this
overwhelming yet exciting process. Career Services offers
many job search resources to help graduates secure employment
after graduation. The best part about these services is
they are all FREE. Below is information about the
services we offer:
Career Services offers students assistance
in developing a professional resume and cover letter,
improving interviewing skills, and conducting searches
for internships, graduate schools, and full time employment
opportunities. Job search counseling and coaching is provided
on an individual basis by appointment.
Career Fairs
Career Services sponsors three Career Fairs
during each academic year. All FHSU students and alumni
are invited to participate in these fairs.
Career Day - This fair provides FHSU students
and alumni with an excellent opportunity to network with
employers, investigate internship possibilities, and gain
valuable insight about today's employers. The 2008 Career
Day will be held on Wednesday, September 17, at Gross
Memorial Coliseum from 10 am to 2 pm.
Spring Career Fair - A spring on-campus career fair
will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
The Spring Career Fair is open to FHSU students
of all classifications, particulary those students looking
for career opportunities and internships.
Teacher Career Fair - This fair is designed for
graduates seeking their first teaching position, teachers
desiring to locate to new school districts, and teachers
wanting to relocate. The 2009 Teacher Career Fair
will be held on April 20, 2009, at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
Events
Each semester, the Career
Services Office offers several workshops and events
designed to provide all students with tools to conduct
successful job searches. Workshops held each semester
include Senior Start-Up and Job Search Workshops.
Mock (practice) Interviews are held in September for
non-teaching majors and in February for teaching majors.

During the fall and spring semesters, employers will
be interviewing on-campus in the Career Services Office
for full-time employment. Each student interested in
interviewing with an organization will need to register
with the Career Services Office prior to signing up
for an interview timeslot. A list of employers conducting

Resources
Careers for Tigers is a FREE,
easy to use system which allows students to produce a
crisp, professional resume; to be referred to job openings
in large and small companies across the nation; to post
resumes in one of the largest web resume books; view full-time
job vacancies; and to interview with prospective employers
on campus.
Jobs for Tigers, a part-time, off-campus employment program
is available to all students. Positions listed through
the Jobs for Tigers program are located in the Hays area.
Jobs for Tigers positions are posted in the Memorial Union
and in Sheridan Hall, room 214. On-line registration and
job postings are also available at www.fhsu.edu/career/jft.shtml.
Job Choices is a FREE series of informational magazines
designed with the job seeking college student in mind.
Each issue highlights specific areas of job searching
and offers advice for new graduates. All majors can benefit
from Job Choices. The magazines can be picked up in Sheridan
Hall, 214. For education majors, the Job Search Handbook
for Educators is a FREE resource which includes information
on ALL aspects of conducting an education job search.
