In January Fort Hays State University provides an IRS Form 1098-T to all students who were enrolled during the previous tax year. The main purpose of the Form 1098-T is to help students determine if they are eligible to receive two tax credits, the American Opportunity Credit and the Lifetime Learning Credit, and to determine eligibility to claim the tuition and fees deduction. We report the total amount paid for qualified tuition and expenses (Box 1). It is the taxpayer's responsibility to determine the amount of qualified tuition and fees paid to claim for tax purposes, and to determine whether they are eligible for any tax credits or deductions.
Fort Hays State University has partnered with ECSI to process your 1098-T form.
Your 2012 IRS Form 1098-T was mailed to your permanent address before January 31, 2013.
