Student Fiscal Services

Picken Hall

Welcome Students & Parents

As you work to achieve your academic goals, Student Fiscal Services will assist you in the financial matters that are important to you. Understanding your financial responsibilities can be difficult, and our staff will offer instructions on how to meet your University payment obligations. We can assist you with enrollment and keep you informed of critical enrollment and payment deadlines to ensure a successful semester.

Student Fiscal Services processes and disburses all financial assistance to student accounts and refunds excess financial assistance to students per their selected refund option. We offer payment options for tuition and fees and housing payments. You can view and pay account balances in TigerTracks. Our staff processes third-party billings (e.g., employer pay, military, vocational rehabilitation, school districts) and community scholarships. We also manage the Federal Perkins, University Foundation and Short-Term loan programs. Our in-house collections staff manages past due student receivables before placement with an outside collection agency.

Authorization to Release Student Account Information

As a student, remember that this is your account and you are ultimately responsible for any amounts owed to FHSU. Therefore, it is very important that you make sure those who assist you with your financial obligations are aware of payment due dates and amounts owed.

The financial and non-directory information on your student account is confidential and protected by the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act 1974 (FERPA) as amended “Buckley Amendment,” and the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLB Act, Sec 16CFR Part 314). Student Fiscal Services cannot release student account information to another person without your authorization. To grant access to a third party, log into your TigerTracks and click the Third Party Access link.

Contact us if you have any questions concerning your student account at 800-628-FHSU (option 8, then option 2), 785-628-5251, sfsmail@fhsu.edu or stop by our office at 317 Picken Hall.

1098-T Information

In January Fort Hays State University provides an IRS Form 1098-T to all students who were enrolled during the previous calendar year.  The main purpose of the Form 1098-T is to help students determine if they are eligible to receive two tax credits, the American Opportunity Credit and the Lifetime Learning Credit, and to determine eligibility to claim the Tuition and Fees Deduction.  We report the total amount paid for qualified tuition and expenses (Box 1).  It is the taxpayer's responsibility to determine the amount of qualified tuition and fees paid to claim for tax purposes, and to determine whether they are eligible for any tax credits or deductions.

Fort Hays State University has partnered with Heartland ECSI to process the IRS 1098-T form.  If you opted in with ECSI to receive your Form 1098-T electronically, you will receive an email directly from Heartland ECSI concerning access to your Form 1098-T.  Heartland ECSI’s website is a secure website and Heartland ECSI will not share your private information with anyone.

If you did not opt in to receive your Form 1098-T electronically, your IRS Form 1098-T will be mailed to your permanent address by January 31st of each year.
