Dr. Tim Davis is the Chair of the Department of Social Work at Fort Hays State University.  His appointment to Fort Hays State University (FHSU) faculty in 2005 brought him back to the university where his collegiate educational pursuits began.  Dr. Davis attended FHSU as a first generation college student, and received a BA in Sociology, emphasizing in criminal justice, and a minor in political science.  He received a Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from The University of Kansas with a concentration in clinical social work.  He also earned a Ph.D. in psychology from Northcentral University with an emphasis in health psychology-behavioral medicine.  He is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW) in the State of Kansas.

In addition to his academic endeavors, Dr. Davis has an extensive practice history in mental health.  He began working in the field as a psycho-educational coordinator at High Plains Mental Health Center.  After completing his MSW, he developed and launched the partial hospital and intensive outreach program at Hays Medical Center.  He became interested in forensic work while at the Sexual Predator Program of Kansas, where he served as a clinical team leader.  He was featured internationally in a Discovery Health Channel documentary during his tenure program.

Dr. Davis continues to be active in clinical practice at HaysMed, where he specializes in bio-psycho-social assessment, individual and family psychotherapy, and consultation to the medical staff as an expert in behavioral health.

As an extension of his scholarly and clinical interests, Dr. Davis is also very involved in developing and enhancing the practice of social work.  In this capacity, he has served on multiple state level boards and advisory councils.  He is the current serving as the President of the Kansas Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
