Corey Brooks is a graduate of Fort Hays State University
with a Master of Liberal Studies degree emphasizing in Leadership
and Sociology. His bachelor's degree in Sociology was also earned
at Fort Hays State University. Currently, Corey is attending K-State
as a part-time postgraduate student working towards his PhD in
Sociology.
Before moving to Manhattan he was involved with Developmental
Services of Northwest Kansas (DSNWK), a Community Developmental
Disability Organization (CDDO), over an eleven year period where
he served in a variety of capacities (e.g. Manager of Supported
Living, Manager of Supported Home Care, Personal Assistant,
Community Support Live-in, etc.). During these years Corey also
served in similar positions with LINK (Living Independently
in Northwest Kansas) a client-driven service agency. Most recently
Corey was employed by Nex-Tech/Rural Telephone Co. where he
filled both technical and management positions. Currently, he
serves as a child and adolescent Community Based Services Case
Manager for Pawnee Mental Health Services in Manhattan, Kansas.
Corey has over five years of experience working with school
aged children across a variety of settings (e.g. After School
Kids Program, Middle School Special Education Para, etc.) in
addition to two and a half years of academic study in Elementary
Education. He has also represented and advocated for the special
needs of children by serving a three year term as a member of
the board of directors for the local Hays chapter of CASA (Court
Appointed Special Advocate).
Over the last three years Corey has maintained two appointments
with Fort Hays State University teaching Introduction to Cultural
Anthropology and Schools and Society.
