Jean (Jeannie) Majercin, M.P.S.

Adjunct Instructor

Jean (Jeannie) Majercin is a graduate of Fort Hays State University, earning her Master of Professional Studies (with a major in Social Entrepreneurship) in 2015, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 2013. For her Master’s culminating project, Jeannie conducted research regarding the status of nonprofit organizations providing services in the state of Kansas, with an emphasis on grassroots efforts. Jeannie is currently an adjunct instructor of Sociology in the Virtual College at FHSU, and teaches a course in Diversity in the United States. She is excited to be teaching and looks forward to introducing her students to new concepts and theories, and helping them to achieve their educational goals.

In addition to teaching, Jeannie provides free-lance grant writing services for two nonprofit organizations in the Pacific Northwest. One agency is devoted to empowering adolescent girls and the other provides equine-assisted activities for individuals with special needs. She first enrolled in a grant proposal writing course as part of her undergraduate requirements and was immediately captivated by the field; ultimately completing the suite of required courses to earn a certificate in Grant Proposal Writing and Program Evaluation from Fort Hays State University. Jeannie is committed to social entrepreneurship and believes grant writing offers an amazing opportunity for her to help others.

Jeannie and her husband Larry live in the Pacific Northwest. In their free time, they enjoy exploring the Puget Sound region, hoping to sight orcas and gray whales in the wild. Jeannie’s hobbies include reading, genealogy research, and spending time with her family.
