Kirk Johnson, Ph.D.
Adjunct Professor
Kirk Johnson, raised in the
mountains of western India from a young age, attended FHSU and graduated
with a Bachelors Degree of Arts in Sociology in 1990. He moved
on to Ohio University where he pursued two masters degrees, one
in sociology and the other in international affairs. Kirk then
moved to Montreal, Canada, where he attended McGill University
and completed his doctorate in sociology in 1998. Soon thereafter,
he moved with his wife Sarah to the islands of the Western Pacific
where he is serving as an Associate Professor of Sociology at
the University of Guam.
Dr. Johnson's research interests
focus on the questions of social change and development. He has
published a book on the topic as well as numerous articles in
professional journals.
Kirk received the prestigious
Young Alumni Award for outstanding achievement from FHSU in 2000.
He currently teaches two course for Fort Hays through the Virtual
College.
He enjoys windsurfing, ocean
kayaking, scuba diving, hiking, traveling and visiting childhood
friends scattered throughout the world.
