Gary Brinker, Ph.D.

Gary D. Brinker received his M.A. in Sociology in 1994 and his Ph.D. in Applied Sociology in 1997 from Baylor University. He currently holds a duel appointment as Associate Professor of Sociology and Director of the Docking Institute of Public Affairs at Fort Hays State University.
 
Dr. Brinker's teaching interests include research methods, social problems and quantitative analysis. His sponsored research projects define an eclectic research agenda. Some of his more recent projects include program evaluations for the Teaching American History grant (MSU History Department), Research Experience for Undergraduates grant (MSU Mathematics Department) and Healthy Marriage and Family grant (Forest Institute).
 
In addition to his extensive applied community research agenda, Dr. Brinker has published in a variety of areas including population problems (International Review of Sociology; Journal of Population; Social Development Issues; Free Inquiry in Creative Sociology), traffic safety (Moving the Margins of Traffic Safety), the death penalty (Missouri Electronic Journal of Sociology), race relations (Missouri State University Journal of Public Affairs), compulsive behaviors (North American Journal of Psychology) and statistical analysis (Journal of Applied Sociology).
