Alumni Notes from the Department of Sociology and Social Work
While by no means exhaustive of the many
success stories among Department graduates, here is a selection of those that

Morgan Campas-O’Hara (BA in Sociology, 2003)
completed her MSW from the University of Denver and is now employed by Devereux Cleo Wallace in
Denver as an intake clinician and patient rights representative.
Lee Chastain (Virtual College BA
in Sociology, 2004)
Lee was hired as the City Planner for Thomasville,
Georgia. Lee is now nearing the completion of his Masters in Public Administration from Troy University.
Laura Dunn (BS in Social Work,
Laura was hired by the Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority and works as a
juvenile intake officer for northwest Kansas.
Ryan Nelson (BA in Sociology,
Ryan was promoted to Survey Manager of National Research
Healthcare Market Guide division. The
HCMG is among the most comprehensive consumer reported assessments of
hospitals, health plans, and health systems in the industry. Ryan is also now pursuing a Masters degree in
Survey Methods from the University of Nebraska.
Linda Page (recipient of Sociology’s Grant Proposal Writing and Program Evaluation Certificate,
Linda’s grant proposal to the Drug Free Communities Support Program for a
five-year project was funded in the amount of $625,000!
Emily Zink (BS in Social Work
and Certificate in Addictions Counseling, 2009)
Emily has been hired
by Heartland Regional Alcohol and Drug Assessment Center’s Manhattan,
Kansas location, where she is a substance abuse case manager.
