Effective July 1, 2002, Fort Hays State University
discontinued its contract with a national management firm
and instituted a streamlined licensing program through its
own Office of University Relations. The university owns its
name and other identity marks such as the mascot, seal and
various logos. The university reserves the right to regulate
all commercial uses of these protected identity marks to assure
that the uses comply with university regulations.
Individuals, organizations and companies must be licensed
to use any of FHSU's protected identity marks on any and all
products, commercial ventures, promotions, advertising campaigns
or other revenue-generating pursuits. Further information
about licensing is available by calling Mary Ridgway in the
Office of University Relations at 628-4521.
Students and student organizations receive special treatment
in regard to the use of FHSU's protected identity marks. They
are not required to be licensed. They are, however, subject
to the university's identity standards. Therefore, students
and student organizations must contact the Office of University
Relations, 204 Sheridan Hall, for prior approval before producing
or commissioning any products, commercial ventures, promotions,
advertising campaigns or other revenue-generating pursuits
that use FHSU's protected identity marks.
