What is Tiger Impact?
In its third year, TIGER IMPACT will once again be offered not only for new students, but for ALL Fort Hays State University students. As part of FHSU's First Year Experience initiative, the goals of Tiger Impact are to:

Create opportunities for social engagement.
Social networking
Extracurricular involvement

Present information and education regarding social issues.
Alcohol
Drugs
Sex / abstinence
Health
Mental health

Provide information regarding academic expectations for college success.
Time management
Work / class balance
Academic honesty

Thursday, August 20
Residence Hall Move-In

Family Orientation, 4:30pm, McMindes Hall East Living Room

Taste of the Memorial Union, 5:00pm, Memorial Union, first floor food court and Mondo Subs in Cody Commons, lower level
Tonight's dinner is an opportunity to sample the cuisine at the Memorial Union and to learn of the variety of food options available at the Union. Choose from Coyote Jack's, Pizza Hut, Mondo Sub's, Tiger Market and the Soup & Salad Bar. FREE for those on the meal plan; $8.00 for all other students. (McMindes Cafe will be closed for dinner)

**PLAYFAIR, Quad, 6:30-8pm (if raining, South Gyms, Cunningham Hall)
PLAYFAIR is the most popular campus attraction in history for New Student Orientation Programs. PLAYFAIR is totally unlike anything else you have ever experienced. It's entertainment! It's fun! It's the perfect way to make new campus friendships! PLAYFAIR is a REQUIRED Orientation event for all incoming students. Sponsored by University Activities Board - REQUIRED

Melon Mania, Union Patio, Memorial Union, 8pm
Immediately following PLAYFAIR, cool off with some juicy watermelon and learn how you can win great prizes through participating in the Memorial Union Information Find!

Friday, August 21
**Orientation, Beach / Schmidt Performing Arts Center, Sheridan Hall, 9:00am - 12:30pm
Orientation is designed to help you adjust to your new environment and cope with the changes you will experience in your first semester at Fort Hays State University. We will preview the university experience, help you understand university policies and procedures, and provide opportunities that familiarize you with the university resources and services.

Guest speaker Josh Shipp has written books, shared the stage with Bill Cosby, hosted a reality show, and appeared on MTV, Comedy Central, NBC, FOX, TLC, and in the LA TIMES. Most recently he was named as one of CNN's Young People Who Rock. Josh offers up "advice with attitude" to those too old for "Bob the Builder" and too young for Oprah and Dr. Phil. --REQUIRED

Transfer and Adult Learner Orientation, Eagle Communications Hall, Robbins Center, 11:30-1pm
If you are a first-time freshmen adult learner, or a transfer student, this session is for you! Join us for a free lunch, an opportunity to meet other transfer and adult learner students, and hear about resources available to help you succeed at FHSU! Seating is limited; registration will be available online. All attendees will receive a free gift!

Afternoon Departmental Socials, various academic departments, 12:30-2pm
If you have already declared your major, visit your department to meet faculty, staff, and key administrators. For undeclared majors, take the opportunity to visit the Academic Advising & Career Exploration Center.

Prescott Tolk, Comedian, Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center, 7:00pm

Saturday, August 22
Games on the Lawn, Custer Hall Lawn and Gazebo, 2-5pm
Come join the fun with members of the Fraternity and Sorority Community! Test your endurance on the rocker roller, yard games, or just take a ride down the slip-n-slide. Take a break and cool off, and see what getting involved at FHSU can do for you.

Casino Night, Chuck's Place, Wiest Hall, 8-10pm
Try your hand with Lady Luck and go home with a handful of prizes! Black Jack, Poker, Craps, Roulette, and the ever-popular P-L-I-N-K-O will be featured at Chuck's Place, with over $3000 in prizes! Sponsored by Residence Hall Association

Sunday, August 23
Sunday Worship on your own

Class Crawl, Sunset Lounge, Memorial Union, 3:30-4:30pm
Explore campus and visit the location of your classes prior to the start of the semester. Tours will leave every 15 minutes as we explore campus landmarks and traditions!

SERVE up a Sundae!, Custer Hall Lawn (McMindes Hall West Living Room - Rain Plan), 5:30-7pm
Find out how to become civically engaged and SERVE during your time at FHSU through the Center for Civic Leadership's multitude of programs. Regardless of your interest we have something for everyone from the Kansas Youth Leadership Academy, to the American Democracy Project, to Tigers in Service. Come take part in a SERVice project and enjoy a Sundae! Sponsored by Student Affairs and the Center for Civic Leadership.

**Ultimate Road Trip / Evening Snack Break, Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center, Sheridan Hall, 7-8:30pm
Start planning your "Ultimate Road Trip" to college success! Join other first-year students to gain information that will help you survive the first college year and use your college experiences to drive yourself toward future career success! Sponsored by Monster.com, this presentation is full of great information & loads of give-aways! - REQUIRED

Sorority Recruitment Information Night, Black & Gold Room, Memorial Union, 8:30pm
Are you interested in learning more about a sorority or do you just want to meet current students? Make sure you attend this informal information session to learn about Sorority Life at FHSU!

**Floor meetings, Residence Hall lobbies, 10-11pm
If you live in the halls, this one is for you! Gather with your entire living group for the first REQUIRED all-floor meeting. Introductions, policies, and expectations will be discussed. Opportunities for involvement in Hall Council and Residence Hall Association will also be reviewed. REQUIRED
