About the University

FHSU has an enrollment of around 4,500 on-campus students and 4,500 virtual students. The university is home to the world-famous Sternberg Museum of Natural History as well as the Beech-Schmidt Performing Arts Center. The university's website is http://www.fhsu.edu.

About the Community

Hays has a population of over 20,000 and has been rapidly growing for the past several years. It is located at the junction of Interstate 70 and Highway 183, midway between Kansas City and Denver. The city is serviced by two commercial airlines with daily roundtrip flights to both Kansas City and Denver and has numerous hotels and rental car agencies. About the FHSU Physics Department

The FHSU physics department consists of 6 faculty members and 40 undergraduate students. Degrees are offered in physics and physical science. The department makes its home in the newest academic building on campus, Tomanek Hall, where it occupies half of the second floor. It hosts the Astronomy Club, Amateur Radio Club, and the Society of Physics Students as well as two experimental research groups and one theoretical research group.
