According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of school teachers is expected to grow by 12 percent between 2006 and 2016, creating over 479,000 new teaching positions. The demand has never been greater for teachers, particularly in the areas of mathematics and science, special education, and early childhood education.

You may start out in the classroom, but over the course of your career, you may find yourself pursuing a graduate degree in education to become a school counselor, a principal or an education specialist, among others.
