These three time lines show the chronological development of flight beginning in the 3500 B.C. and running up to 1990. The events shown at the top of the time lines allow you to see other historical events occurring in the world at the same time. The first time line, from 3500 B.C. to A.D. 2000, represents 5500 years of mankind's dream of flight to the ultimate achievement of that dream. The middle time line, from 1700 to 1899, represents 199 years in the development of flight. The last time line, 1900 to 1990, represents the past 90 years of actual manned flight in both the atmosphere and outer space. Click on desired thumbnail for a larger view: irc 07/13/00 |
