Title: Crazy About Caterpillars

Age levels: K-2

*Project Wild- a seminar designed to teach educators about the wild life around them and how to preserve this wildlife.

*Basic knowledge of caterpillars and how their life cycle continues.

Brief Description:

  1. Major Concept: Caterpillars

    1. incorporate their knowledge of caterpillars in 5 integrative areas in 8 of the 10 different activities.
    2. demonstrate the life cycle of a caterpillar in the areas listed, while being evaluated through observation and their finished projects.

    A. As a whole class, or even a whole grade, the students could act out The Very Hungry Caterpillar in a play. They could show that they understand the life cycle of a caterpillar by actually doing.

    B. Watch actual caterpillars hatch. Journal this occurrence. For younger children have them draw it and the teacher may write what the child says is happening. This brings what the child has just learned to life.
