Technology Education Collegiate Association

About TECA

Being a member of TECA offers many rewarding and challenging experiences that allow you to enhance your knowledge and exposure to technology and to life. Some of the many opportunities offered by TECA include the experience of developing leadership skills and being involved in professional activities.

Purpose of TECA

The purpose of Technology Education Collegiate Association is to promote leadership, fellowship, scholarship, and a philosophical foundation for future technology teachers, through college chapter coordinated activities at the campus, state, regional, and national level.

The Technology Education Collegiate Association (TECA) took a group of students to Baltimore, MD over spring break to compete in the International Technology Education Association conference. The team had a great showing at this year's conference. There were 14 FHSU students competing against the 16 teams representing universities across the country. Lindsey Schaefer and Rebecca Applebee made up the Fort Hays team which took first place honors in the Teaching Lesson competition. The Problem Solving team, with members Russell Flinn, Jessica Cox, Eric Stuhlsatz, and JR Padilla, walked away with the second place trophy. Jace Stewart, Nick King, Eric Deneault, and Lucas Meiar made a great run in the Technology Challenge competition, but came up just short in the final-four round. Our Transportation Challenge team of Ashley Goering, Woodrow Fanning, Tyrel Coker, and Matt Mazouch, also just missed the top four over-all finish, but we had one of the two fastest sailing crafts in that event (it was also the best looking boat with the best looking crew)!

TECA serves as a pre-professional organization which provides opportunities to develop professional attitudes of future technology educators through active participation in ITEA/TECA proceedings.

TECA also provides an open line of communication between Chapters for exchange of ideas related to technology education and the purposes of college student associations.

Membership:

Undergraduate and graduate collegiate students enrolled in a technology education or industrial arts program are welcome to become members of TECA.

Membership fee in this association for active members is $5.00 per year.
