Fort Hays State University's Electric Truck was built by four students in an Independent Studies Course. The building process took four months and $13,000. The truck has power steering and heat, runs on 120 volts, and is capable of reaching 70 miles per hour and 50 miles on a charge. It offers a remarkably quiet ride - the only sond heard is the tires on the road.
