On January 16, 2006, Tigers In Service coordinated its first Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. As volunteers around the nation participated in various service projects, Tigers In Service directed three different opportunities to serve right here in Hays, KS. To start off the events, 20 volunteers gathered at the local Alterra Sterling House to provide manicures for and play Bingo with the residents.
During lunchtime, six volunteers delivered Meals on Wheels to elderly or homebound people through the First Call for Help organization. In cooperation with the Rotary Club, 20 volunteers aided Adopt-a-Mile efforts by cleaning up trash on 41st street.
