Transcript Types

High School Transcripts/GED

If you are a first time freshman student, or a transfer student with less than 24 college hours, you must submit a final, official high school transcript or GED to complete your admission file.

College Transcripts (domestic)

If you have completed hours at another post secondary institution, you must send final, official transcripts from every school that you have attended to complete your admission file.

College Transcripts (international)

If you have completed hours at another post secondary institution outside of the United States, you must send final, official transcripts from every school that you have attended to complete your admission file. Fort Hays State University does not evaluate international credentials for transfer of credit. Once you are admitted, you may choose to have your prior international course work evaluated by a credential evaluation company. FHSU accepts evaluations from any member of NACES: http://www.naces.org/. If you elect to do this process, choose the course-by-course evaluation and have the evaluating company send a copy of its evaluation to Fort Hays State University.

ACT/SAT Profile Transcripts

If you are a first time freshman student under the age of 21, or a transfer student under the age of 21, with less than 24 college hours transferring, you need to submit an ACT or SAT profile sheet to complete your admission file.

Prior Learning Assessment Transcripts

Prior Learning Assessments, such as AP, CLEP and DSST (formally DANTES) are accepted based upon evaluation. If you would like to earn college credit for your exam scores, you must send official transcripts/score reports to FHSU. Kelly Center Testing Services also has additional information and specifics on a number of the standardized exams they offer (CLEP, DSST, Prometric) as well as score requirements for the awarding of FHSU credit.

Transcript Evaluation Process

For an official transcript evaluation, follow the steps below:

  1. Apply for admission.
  2. Send official transcripts from all colleges/universities you have attended to the Registrar's Office.
  3. Once admitted to FHSU, request a transcript evaluation from your degree analyst in the Registrar's Office.
  4. If you have questions regarding the transfer of specific courses after the evaluation is complete, refer to the transfer of credit appeal process.

Once formally admitted to FHSU, the Registrar's Office will perform a transcript evaluation at your request (or at the request of your academic advisor). The transcript evaluation will show which courses transferred into the program and which courses remain in order to complete your degree. Upon the completion of 60 credit hours, every degree-seeking student will be provided with an official degree summary. Once the advisor signs off, the degree summary will be loaded into the student's TigerTracks account.
