Performance of five dance and drum routines that will
familiarize the audience
with American Indian
culture and history. A native Storyteller will provide
background on the origin of the Men’s Traditional and Fancy
Feather along with
the Women’s Fancy Shaw, the Southern Cloth, and the Jiggle. Sponsored by the

Singer/ Songwriter Lemuel Sheppard will perform
his classic artistry of original
folk music, blues and
spirituals. He will also entertain and enlighten the crowd

3:00 PM Heritage Day Program - Why We Serve
Union Patio -- on the quad (Sunset Lounge Rain Location)
This program will honor former FHSU students who
gave their lives in past wars serving our country. The
quad will be filled with American Flags honoring all
who serve our country. Speakers include Representative Eber Phelps and Petty Officer Caleb S. Duke, United States Navy. Petty Officer Duke served in support of
Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and most recently volunteered to
deploy in direct support of the United States Army as a Civil Affairs Staff Sergeant
where he served on a four-man Direct Support Team and earned the Bronze Star
with Combat “V.”
7:00 PM Film and Discussion – “Why We Fight”
Cody Commons
“Why We Fight” is an unflinching look at the anatomy of American war-making --
this film explores a half-century of U.S. foreign policy from World War II to the Iraq
War. The film will be introduced by FHSU professor Bryan Bennett, and
discussion will follow this film presentation.

Laurel is quickly making a name for herself at Fort Hays as an amazing guitarist
and singer. She is the reigning winner of FHSU Tiger Idol.
12:15 PM -- Mario Lazoya
1:30 PM Mario is a frequent performer at venues such as LB Brewing Co., Semilino's, and
the Fox Pavilion. He is a solo guitarist and singer, with a very eclectic style.
1:45 PM -- The Alex Toepfer Jazz Combo
3:00 PM This combo features students from the FHSU music department, with Alex
Toepfer leading the way on saxophone, playing a variety of Jazz pieces.

He’s got some of the best BPM (Balloons per Minute) in the business. She’ll paint
(almost) anything (almost) anywhere you want! Together they are the best
husband and wife novelty team in the business. Sue draws a line of students --
Lester creates balloon art while they wait. Lester draws a crowd -- Sue paints
them while they’re watching.
Both have been named college novelty act of the
year!

Cody Commons
Louis has performed on television in the states, Canada and Hong Kong. His US
television appearances include his own half hour comedy special, "Comedy
Central Presents: Louis Ramey," ABC Daytime's "The View," Comedy Central's
"Premium Blend," NBC's "It's Showtime at the Apollo," and CBS Televisions "48
Hours." He is currently host of The Nick at Night "Road Show."
