The principal desired outcome
of the renovation is to once again transform the Memorial
Union into a destination point for students. A principal
component of this renovation will be to repurpose existing
areas of the lower (basement) level into spaces which
serve current students needs. Specific desired renovation
outcomes include, but are not limited to:
1. Creation of new student
lounge and performance area
2. Expanded Student Health Services area
3. Expanded University Bookstore area
4. Expanded Student Government Association office area
5. Expanded University Activities Board office area
6. Renovation of existing cafeteria
7. Creation of new building entrance at public parking side
8. Introduction of wireless connectivity throughout the building
9. Creation of visual connectivity between ground level and lower level
10. Replace existing HVAC/mechanical systems
11. Create visual screen between west entrance and loading dock
12. Enhance east entrance courtyard
13. Redesign west entrance drive/drop-off area
14. Replace segments of deteriorated mechanical piping
15. Abate areas of asbestos containing materials
