Maintaining Graphic Standards
To help provide a consistent image for the university,
the following graphic standards are recommended.
Color
Most people recognize that color is an important
component of the university's identity program; consequently,
people are frequently concerned about using the "right"
university colors. Color should be used carefully to maintain
consistency and stature in all FHSU communications. Use these
colors as much as possible in outreach materials. You may use
whatever color you prefer, but it is important to avoid using
colors of rival universities.
The following color guidelines allow creative
freedom while maintaining the integrity of the identity system.
FHSU uses certain PMS (Pantone Matching System)
colors. The official PMS colors for FHSU are Black, PMS 130,
PMS 872 (metallic gold) and PMS 116. These colors are
required for the university stationery system.
You are encouraged to match these colors as closely as possible.
Tints of black or any shade of gold are acceptable.
Paper
Paper is also an important component of a consistent
identity. All official university stationery is to be printed
on specific papers provided through FHSU Printing Services.
All official university stationery is to be printed by Printing
Services. FHSU uses only white and ivory colored paper for
its stationery system. No other papers or colors of paper are
acceptable for official external communications. For your own
publications, however, you may select whatever paper you prefer.
The state of Kansas
provides a selection of papers on state contract. A variety
of coated, uncoated, textured and recycled
papers are available in varying weights. Because they tend
to be less expensive and more easily available, you are encouraged
to request contract papers. For more information regarding
paper, contact Printing Services.
Typography
Although you are not constrained in your font
choices, we recommend the following type families to coordinate
with the stationery system in your outreach materials:
- Matrix
- Goudy Old Style (Times New Roman is
an appropriate alternate type face.)
