Certificate in Life Stages and Transitions

Many students earn a BA in Sociology in order to hone their “people skills.”  This certificate program includes courses that deal with major life passages, such as marriage, remarriage, childrearing, aging, and death and dying. The Life Issues certificate provides students with a background to work in human services fields or to enhance the knowledge of those currently working in such fields.

Required Courses:

Choose any four of the following:

  • SOC 343 Sociology of Sex Roles (3 Credit Hours)
  • SOC 350 Family Communication (3 Credit Hours)
  • SOC 352 Stepfamilies (3 Credit Hours)
  • SOC 355 Sociology of Death and Dying (3 Credit Hours)
  • SOC 388  Sociology of the Family in America (3 Credit Hours)
  • SOC 644  Sociology of Aging (3 Credit Hours)

TOTAL HOURS REQUIRED FOR CERTIFICATE: 12 hours
