Adaptive/Gifted Special Education Endorsement

The Program of Special Education offers teacher preparation programs to provide equitable and appropriate education for exceptional children and youth. The Special Education Endorsement is available in Adaptive Special Education or in Gifted Education. Prerequisite Requirements: An undergraduate degree and teacher certification are required for acceptance in the graduate program.

  • SPED 805  Assessment and Lab in SPED (3 Credit Hours)
  • SPED 806  Materials and Methods for Exceptional Students (3 Credit Hours)
  • SPED 810  Technology in Special Education (3 Credit Hours)
  • SPED 811  Characteristics of Early Childhood SPED (3 Credit Hours)
  • SPED 822/852  Educational Strategies in Special Education: Adaptive/Gifted  (3 Credit Hours)
  • SPED 861  Vocational/Transition Education (3 Credit Hours)
  • SPED 867/859  Pract: Collab & Consult: Adaptive/Gifted Special Education (3 Credit Hours)
  • AEP 880  Cultural Diversity (3 Credit Hours)

TOTAL HOURS REQUIRED FOR ENDORSEMENT: 36 Credit Hours
