English for Speakers of Other Languages
Teachers licensed in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) are in high demand in Kansas and across the country. If you are interested in making a difference in children’s lives you should consider an endorsement in ESOL.
Prior to beginning the ESOL endorsement program, you will need to be admitted to the Fort Hays State University Graduate School as a degree-seeking or non-degree seeking student. The application process includes a letter of application, reference letters, official transcripts, and a background check. If you wish to teach in Kansas, a valid Kansas teaching license is required for this program. If you are from outside Kansas, please check with the department of education regarding licensure in your state.
After graduation with the MSE degree or completion of the endorsement program, applicants must also meet their individual state department of education requirements prior to adding the ESOL endorsement to a valid teaching license.
The ESOL teaching program is fully accredited by the National Council on Accreditation of Teacher Education/Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and the Kansas State Department of Education.
